General Breed Information

The Srpski Trobojni Gonic, or the Serbian Tricolour Hound, is a dog breed that originated in Serbia. It was formerly referred to as the Yugoslavian Tricolour Hound, but the name was altered because of the splitting of Yugoslavia in 1991. Dogs of this breed were first presented in dog shows during the 1950s. There was a point in time when these dogs were considered as a variation of the Serbian Hound, but in 1961, the Fédération Cynologique Internationale recognized the two as separate and distinct breeds. These dogs are used for hunting wild boars, feral pigs, hares, and foxes.

The Srpski Trobojni Gonic has a height of approximately 20 inches and a weight of around 55 pounds. They have a short coat that is black and tan in colour, but with a white front that distinguishes it from the Serbian Hound.
