The Markiesje is a dog breed that originated from the Netherlands. Poodles and spaniels were used in the development of this breed. Dogs of this breed can be found on farms across the country. It is considered a new breed and it is not known outside its native land. The organizations that recognize this breed include the Dutch Kennel Club and the American Pet Registry Inc. This breed is also known by the names Dutch Tulip Hound and Hollandse Tulphond.
The Markiesje can reach up to 16 inches and weigh up to 13 pounds. Dogs of this breed are balanced and well-proportioned. The coat of these dogs is silky and long with feathering. Their coat colour is black, but they may sometimes have white markings. Owners of these dogs should make sure to brush the coat of their dogs regularly. Their nails and teeth should be checked regularly as well.
Not much is known about the life span of this breed, but it is theorized that these dogs may live for up to 15 years.
