General Breed Information

The Korean Dosa Mastiff is a dog breed that was created during the late 19th century. The foundation for this breed included Asian and European working breeds such as the Japanese Tosa-Inu, Neapolitan Mastiff, and Dogue de Bordeaux. During the second half of the 20th century, a mix of English Mastiff blood was used for some strains as well, although most Korean Dosa Mastiffs were mostly developed through inbreeding and careful selection based on temperament and coat colour.

Male Korean Dosa Mastiffs stand at 25 1/2 to 30 inches tall and weigh 160 to 185 pounds. Females have a height of 23 1/2 to 27 inches and a weight of 145 to 165 pounds. These dogs are large and loose-skinned. Their head is large, wide, and round, with many wrinkles on their face, lips, and ears. They have a strong neck with prominent dewlaps, and they are tall and wide-chested. The coat of these dogs is smooth, flat, and short. The acceptable coat colours for this breed include brown, red, and orange. They may have a white patch on their chest.

The life span of Korean Dosa Mastiffs is around 7 to 12 years. These dogs are susceptible to bloating, so it's important for them to be fed two to three small meals each day rather than just one large meal. Other health problems associated with these dogs include cherry eye and hip dysplasia.
