General Breed Information
The Hairless Khala is a dog breed that is known throughout South and Central America. Dogs of this breed are rarely seen outside Latin America. These dogs actually go by several different names even within the same country. It was only recently that they have been classified as "Khala," which is a Bolivian Quechua Indian word that means "without clothing." Khala pedigrees are seldom documented in paper. Several countries such as Bolivia, Peru, and Argentina are exerting effort to track and record the pedigree of this breed. Only a limited number of these dogs can be exported to the United States and Europe. This breed is recognized by the Continental Kennel Club and the American Pet Registry Inc.
The Hairless Khala is a medium-sized dog. Dogs of this breed have a height that ranges from 14 to 20 inches and a weight that falls between 15 and 30 pounds. This breed has two types: the Khala Grande and the Khala Medio, with the Khala Grande being a little taller than the Khala Medio. Both types are athletic, strong, and agile. These dogs have a very soft and smooth skin, and they don't have a coat, which is the why they're called "hairless." They are usually dark gray, but they can also have different colours. The nose of these dogs is long, and their wide set eyes are small and usually brown or black in colour.
These dogs are expected to live for around 10 to 14 years.
