General Breed Information

The Chi-Poo, also called as Wapoo, is a designer breed that was created by crossing the Poodle with the Chihuahua. It is recognized by both the Designer Dogs Kennel Club and the American Canine Hybrid Club.

Chi-Poos have a height that ranges from 5 to 15 inches and a weight that falls between 3 and 20 pounds. These dogs are small, well-proportioned, sturdy, and stout. The coat of these dogs can be coarse and wiry or fluffy and poodle-like. Their coat can come in any colour or colour combination. The coat of these dogs should be combed or brushed regularly and trimmed once every several months. They should also be bathed when necessary.

The common health problems affecting Chi-Poos include corneal dryness, runny eyes, secondary glaucoma, gum problems, stress, colds, cataracts, digestive disorders, ear infections, and heart disorders. These dogs may also have the tendency to snore or wheeze. Despite these health problems, however, Chi-Poos still have an average life span of 12 to 15 years, and may even live longer than that.
