General Breed Information

The Volpino Italiano is a Spitz-type dog breed that originated in Italy and has been existing there for several centuries. It is believed that the Volpino Italiano is a descendant of various ancient European Spitz dogs. For several centuries, this breed has been favored by the Italian royalty. Women are also fond of these dogs. Although the Volpino Italiano looks a lot like the Pomeranian, the Volpino Italiano is much older and has a different history from the Pomeranian. The Volpino Italiano is also rare and is relatively unknown outside its native country despite its long history. This breed is recognized by the Continental Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club.

The Volpino Italiano has a height that ranges from 9.8 to 11.8 inches and a weight that falls between 8 and 12 pounds. Dogs of this breed have a square build. They have a wedge-shaped, slightly rounded head with a straight muzzle. Their ears are pointy and look a little like that of a fox. The eyes of these dogs are deeply set and have a friendly and alert expression. These dogs have a feathered tail that curls over their back. Their coat is straight and long, which wraps around their neck like a lion's ruff. The acceptable coat colours for this dog include champagne, red, and white. The coat of these dogs just needs to be brushed and bathed occasionally.
