General Breed Information

The Sapsari, also known as the Sapsal, is a dog breed that originated in Korea. It is believed that dogs of this breed can dispel evil spirits and ghosts. This breed has been granted recognition by the two leading Korean dog organizations: the Korean Kennel Club and the Korean Canine Club. The Sapsari does not have an official international recognition.

The Sapsari is a medium-sized dog that is slightly longer than its height. Dogs of this breed look like herding dogs, but they seem to have been bred for the purpose of being house dogs, with their work being more spiritual rather than physical. They have hair that falls over their eyes, similar to that of the Old English Sheepdog. These dogs have an abundant and long coat that comes in a wide variety of colours. The acceptable coat colours for this breed include golden yellowish blonde, reddish orange, black, brown, and salt-and-pepper grey.
