General Breed Information

The Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka is a small Russian dog breed that was created through localized breeding in St. Petersburg and Moscow. This breed was developed with the use of the toy poodle, Shi-Tzu, French Bolognese, French Pekingese, and Lhasa Apso. Small fluffy mongrel dogs were also used for the foundation of this breed. Today, the Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka is becoming increasingly popular because more families are preferring small dogs to larger dogs.

The desirable height for the Russian Tsvetnaya Bolonka ranges from 24 to 26 centimeters. Dogs of this breed have a medium-sized head with a moderately broad and slightly rounded skull. Their muzzle is straight and lean, and their nose is black and not protruding. These dogs have tight lips and teeth that meet in a scissors bite, although a level bite is also acceptable. They have medium-sized, obliquely set eyes that are either hazel or dark brown in colour. Their eyelids are lean, tight, and thin. The ears of these dogs are small and set high. They also have a compact body with a strong, broad, well-muscled back and slightly arched, short loins. The oval-shaped chest of these dogs is moderately broad and deep, and their belly is slightly tucked up. Their coat is silky, dense, and thick. The acceptable coat colours for this breed include gray, brown and tan, brown, black, black and tan, fawn, red, cream, and brindle. They can also have small white markings on their forechest and toes.
