General Breed Information

The Potsdam Greyhound is a dog breed that was developed in Italy. Dogs of this breed are used for course racing and are generally not kept as pets. They may, however, get along well with children just as long as they are properly socialized.

Potsdam Greyhounds have a height that ranges from 15 to 17 inches and a weight that falls between 10 and 14 pounds. These dogs look like small sighthounds, and their size is between that of the Italian Greyhound and the Whippet. The coat of the Potsdam Greyhound is short and smooth. The acceptable coat colour is bright reddish or orange, with white markings on the tip of the tail. Dogs of this breed also have a white snippet that runs through the center of their muzzle.

The life span of Potsdam Greyhounds is around 10 to 12 years. This breed needs little grooming and maintenance. Occasional brushing of the coat would suffice, and bathing should be done only when necessary.
