General Breed Information
The Olde Boston Bulldogge originated in Boston, Massachusetts. Like most other dogs used for pit fighting during the 1800s, the original Boston Bulldog was a product of the interbreeding of terriers and bulldogs, specifically English Bulldogs, Bull Terriers, and White English Terriers. The Olde Boston Bulldogge is considered the original Boston Bull, which is the breed that Boston Terriers were developed from. Olde Boston Bulldogges are also referred to as the “round-headed Bull and Terrier" of Boston. Although the Olde Boston Bulldogge and the Boston Terrier have the same early history, these two are still considered separate and distinct breeds.
Old Boston Bulldogges are similar in appearance to little Bulldogs. Not much importance is given to their appearance. The only specification is that these dogs should weigh between 25 and 45 pounds. What's more important is that these Olde Boston Bulldogges are healthy and that they have much courage.
