General Breed Information
There isn't much information about the origin of the German Sheeppoodle, but it is theorized that the breed is closely related to the Puli. It is believed that sheep herders traveling between Germany and Hungary brought Puli dogs with them, and Puli dogs were bred with Komondors to create the German Sheeppoodle. This breed was used as a herder, but although it was excellent at its job, it never became popular outside Germany. It may also be extinct now, because no records of the breed have been found.
German Sheeppoodles have a height that ranges from 20 to 24 inches and a weight that falls between 50 and 65 pounds. These dogs are fluffy, and they have a unique fur. They have a large, round head with a square muzzle. Their eyes are large and round, covered with lots of fluffy fur. These dogs have ears that are long and floppy. Their thick neck leads to their bulky body, which resembles a puff ball because of the thick fur. German Sheeppoodles have muscular legs that lead to big, round feet. They have a long and curly coat that is often white. Other acceptable coat colours include fawn, black, brown, and red. They may also be two-toned.
It's theorized that these dogs can live for around 8 to 12 years.
