General Breed Information

The Danish Swedish Farmdog is an all around dog breed that originated in Sweden and Denmark, although it is now popular throughout Scandinavia. This breed is an old native breed that lived on farms located in the southern part of Sweden and northern part of Denmark. Dogs of this breed served as farmdogs, guarding people, animals, and the farm itself from intruders. These dogs are also excellent as hunters. It's possible that these dogs may have been developed from Pinscher breeds and British white hunting terriers. This breed is recognized by the Nordic Kennel Union, the American Rare Breed Association, and the American Pet Registry Inc. It's also recognized by various kennel clubs in Scandinavian countries.

The Danish Swedish Farmdog is similar in appearance to the Fox Terrier or Jack Russell Terrier. Danish Swedish Farmdogs have a compact and small body that is almost rectangular. These dogs have a wide, deep chest, and a small, triangular head. The tail of these dogs can be a natural bobtail, but it can also be long. The coat of this breed can be white, chocolate brown, black, or red. They can also be bicolour or tricolour. These dogs have a height that ranges from 12 to 14 inches and a weight that falls between 15 and 25 pounds.

These dogs are expected to live for around 10 to 15 years.
