General Breed Information
The Sharpool is a cross between the Shar-Pei and the Poodle therefore it is a hybrid dog and not a purebred dog. Shar-Pei were actually named as the world's rarest dog breeds by the Guinness Book of World Records in 1978 and in 1973 200 Shar-Peis were smuggled into America and become the ancestors of most of the Shar-Pei population in America and Europe today.
The Sharpoo ideally inherits many of the best traits of both its poodle and Shar-Pei ancestors. From the Shar-Pei comes devotion and loyalty to family, a reserved nature with very strong watch dog tendencies.
While from the poodle the Sharpoo will most likely inherit a lively, easy to train and very intelligent personality .Sharppos have the curly-coat of the Poodle and the facial features of the Shar-Pei except for the facial wrinkles of the Shar-Pei.
