General Breed Information

The Jack-A-Poo is not considered a purebred dog. Rather, it is regarded as a designer or hybrid dog. This breed was created by crossing the Poodle with the Jack Russell Terrier. Although not recognized by major kennel clubs, the Jack-A-Poo has gained recognition from the Designer Dogs Kennel Club and the American Canine Hybrid Club. Dogs of this breed may also go by the name of Jackdoodle.

Jack-A-Poos have a height that ranges from 10 to 15 inches and a weight that falls between 15 and 20 pounds. Their coat can vary widely; they can have a coarse coat like that of a Jack Russell Terrier, or a soft, curly coat like that of the Poodle. The coat colours of this breed also comes in a wide variety, but these dogs are usually white with markings that are black or tan in colour.
