General Breed Information
The Bernedoodle, which is considered as a designer or hybrid dog, is a cross between the Poodle and the Bernese Mountain Dog. Sherry Rupke from SwissRidge Kennels is credited with having developed this breed in 2003. Bernedoodles have since then been used as family and companion dogs.
Bernedoodles are robust and strong dogs with a powerful and compact body. These dogs come in different sizes; their size depends on the size of their parents. These dogs can have a height of at least 10 inches to more than 21 inches. Their weight may range from 10 pounds to over 50 pounds. They have muscular hindquarters and hairy ears. Their coat can be curly, wavy, or straight. These dogs are usually pure black, black and brown, black and brown, or tricoloured.
Bernedoodles are expected to live for around 8 to 10 years. Owners should brush the coat of these dogs regularly and check their ears frequently for infections.
