Group Terriers (KC)

Origin / History Orgin ally bred from white puppies from Cairn terriers which were generally unwanted. From those there own breed was bred.

 

Appearance Slightly arched head and small pointed prick ears. Compact deep chested body with well sprung ribs.

Colours White.

Temperament Affectionate, happy,

Height and Weight 23 - 30 cm in height and 6 - 10 Kg in weight. Males are usually slightly larger than females.

Common Health Problems Generally a healthy breed but as with other all white breeds they are more prone to skin problems. Also known to suffer from Legg Perthes and liver disease. Also cranimandibular osteopathy.

Living Conditions Suited to both country and town life in a house with a garden which is securely fenced to prevent escape.

Exercise Requirements An active small breed which needs a fair amount of activity and a decent daily walk or 2 or 3 shorter brisk walks a day.

Training Requirements Needs firm and consistent reward based training. As with most terriers not the easiest breed to train. Not easy to teach the recall to when off lead. They love to explore.

Life Expectancy 13-14 years.

Grooming Long hard straight coat with a soft under coat that needs brushing 2 or 3 times a week. Coat needs hand stripping about 3 times a year.
