Group Toy Dogs (KC)

Origin / History Known as "King of the Toys". This breed as no connection with the much larger Dobermann Pinscher, despite the similar names and the obvious similarities in appearance.

Appearance

Colours Black and tan, chocolate and tan, solid red.

Temperament Intelligent, fearless, energetic

Height and Weight 25-30 cm in height and 3.5-4.5 Kg in weight. Males are usually slightly bigger than the females.

Common Health Problems An alround healthy breed, if anything may suffer from kneecap dislocating as is common with many toy breeds.

Living Conditions Suited to both country and town life. If living in an apartment they will certainly need extra walks. If access to a garden, which they will certainly relish, make sure its fully fenced and secure.

Needs to be kept warm in the winter. Its very short coat makes it susceptible to the cold.

Exercise Requirements Will make do with standard daily walk but being a lively breed will certainly enjoy more, and may well be needed if the dog gets bored or into mischief through lack of exercise or mental stimulation throughout the rest of its day.

Training Requirements Short attention span doesn't make this an easy breed to obedience train. Short reward based sessions are the best way to train them.

Life Expectancy 12 - 13 years.

Grooming Very easy coat to care fir, just needs once a week brush to remove dead hair and skin.
