Group Utility Dogs (KC)

Origin / History Originates from the crossing of Tibetan Terrier and Tibetan Spaniel.

Appearance Medium narrow head, with short muzzle, and pendulous ears.

Colours Golden, grizzle, sandy, honey, smoke, reddish, bi-coloured white and brown, white and black.

Temperament

Height and Weight 20 - 28 cm in height, 6 - 7 Kg in weight. Males are generally slightly larger than females and the top of end of the measurement ranges.

Common Health Problems Generally an alround healthy breed. Sometimes suffers progressive retinal atrophy.

Living Conditions Suited to both town and country life. Would prefer a house with a garden, but will live in an apartment, but if this is the case will need more daily walks.

Exercise Requirements Will make do with standard daily walk but will happily enjoy longer walks if given the option.

Training Requirements Not the easiest to teach, but will learn the basic obedient commands okay if you take a firm but fun approach with some tidbit.

Life Expectancy 13 - 14 years.

Grooming Long straight hard dense coat needs thorough daily grooming to prevent tangles and matting.. Head hair is often left over eyes, but some people choose to let the dog see better and tie it back. Some people have the dogs puppy clipped every 4 - 6 weeks, which reduces grooming time, but will still need some daily attention.

Famous Examples

CompleteDogsGuide Comment An assertive toy breed dog which is assertive as well as playful and affectionate. Needs a great deal of grooming care and extra when there have been out on wet or muddy walks.
