Group Toy Dogs

Origin / History An ancient breed which has been around since roman times.

Appearance

Colours Cream, fawn, blue, black, white, red and pied ( white with coloured patches).

Temperament Affectionate, intelligent, playful,

Height and Weight 30 - 38 cm in height and 2.7 - 4.5 Kg in weight. Males and females are within the same size ranges.

Common Health Problems An alround healthy breed. As with many toy breeds may suffer from dislocating kneecaps. The main health issue is making sure they don't break any bones. they are a fragile breed, especially under the age of 18 months.

Living Conditions Will be happy living in country or town house. Would prefer a garden. Ideally suited to gentle owners who to devote alot of attention to the small dog.

Exercise Requirements Will get by with just a basic daily walk but will walk much more often or for much longer distances. Will certainly enjoy time off lead and having a good run around.

Training Requirements Average breed when it comes to obedience training. They do best with training sessions split into short sessions as they have a short attention span. give them plenty of praise when they do as you want. Pay particular attention to getting this breed socialised as a puppy with people and other dogs. Obviously if socialising with other puppies make sure they are not to large and rowdy, so as to prevent any injury accidental being caused during playtime.

Life Expectancy 12 - 15 years.

Grooming Very short fine satin like coat just needs once a week attention. Some owners polish the coat with piece of silk or velvet cloth.

Famous Examples
