Colours Tan and white, black and white, red and white, black and also brindle.

Temperament

Height and Weight 38 - 46cm in height, 9.5 to 11kg's in weight. Male are generally bigger than the females.

Common Health Problems An alround healthy breed. If anything may be prone to eye disorders, kidney disease and haemolitic anaemia.

Living Conditions Ideal suited to home with large garden. If living kept in an apartment they will need lots of exercise. Garden needs to be very secure with solid high fencing to prevent escape.

Exercise Requirements

Training Requirements Basenji are active dogs which are known to be not very obedient. They therefore need good firm handling and training from a persistent and patient owner.

May be particularly difficult to train recall, especially when off the lead.

Life Expectancy 12 years.

Grooming Very basic for short coat which needs brush once a week.
