February Best month so far

With lots of new pages added throughout the month of February, combined with many pages from January being picked up by the search engines its no surprise that site traffic on a monthly basis was at a new high for the month.

Hits at the end of the month were averaging about 100 a day.

At some point during this month I intend to actively start the Internet marketing of the site. Currently I still have a number of outstanding jobs adding content and planning for more content to be added during this new month of March.

As far as Google is concerned, the site doesn't appear to have aged, and isn't ranking for any decent search terms. It only seems to pick up hits for one off long tail terms.

The site did start picking up more traffic from search engines Yahoo and MSN during the month.

Beaware when setting goals

Okay its the next day after I set my target to first achieve 100 hits a day as of next week and then maintain it.

Well, I did that goal kind of on impulse, I've been busy creating content and decided it was time I get some traffic.

However, this morning, after sleeping on it, I remembered that one rule of setting goals is not to set goals that are outside of your control. Well that is exactly what I did. I have no control over whether Google or other search engines index my new pages or the timeframe they do so. Then no control over any traffic those pages may pull in, or as is very likely, may not.

I do have control over how much content I can create and how much effort I can put in to link building.

However, even though the goal does seem a little more difficult than I first thought I'm still going all out to achieve it.

Site Cached by Google

I checked my site in Google by typing "CompleteDogsGuide" and the site is now in Google, it was also Top 10 for "Complete Dogs Guide".

Surprising how quick Google indexed the site considering I've been posting a couple of days and don't have any links pointing to the site.

The domain itself was bought in early September and then a couple of weeks ago I just added a basic holding page.

Strangely the cache of the index page showed the my blog posts. Now, when I first posted the blog it did upload on the root index page, but that was literally for a few minutes until I worked out how to get the blog uploaded to the correct folder.
