2 More Australian dog breeds

Added 2 more Aussie named dog breeds today. First up is the Australian Silky Terrier a small slightly built terrier breed. In some countries its is just known as a Silky Terrier.

Next to be added was the Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog, a breed which is not recognised by The Kennel Club. It was only recognised as a breed by the Australian National Kennel Council in 1988.

Added Two Australian Dog Breeds

New breeds today were the Australian Cattle Dog, which is sometimes referred to as the Queensland Heeler, Blue Heeler or Australian Heeler. I'm pretty sure I've seen this breed featured a couple of times on the Dog Whisperer.

It's an active herding breed, not really suited as a companion pet. As of yet I don't have any pictures of the breed.

Another breed from down under added today was the Australian Kelpie. Both breeds are recognised by the Kennel club as well as being in the Pastoral Dogs category.

Argentine Dogo

Added a great breed today, the Argentine Dogo along with plenty of great dogo pictures, including plenty of Argentine Dogo puppy pics.

They are not recognized as a breed here in the UK, in fact it is illegal to actually own one as they come under the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act.

In those countries they are allowed they certainly need strong and firm owners. They are a powerful and muscular breed.

Here's a picture which shows 2 at a time, from Raul Tradicion Argentina Dogos

American Bulldog Breed Page

I have just added a page dedicated to the American Bulldog. A popular U.S breed, which is quite a bit different from our well known English Bulldog breed, from which the American Bulldog originated.

I got this great photo of Ripley, a Johnson American Bulldog. The photo was sent in by Emma who runs Emma, Ripley Wrinkles. Her site has plenty more pics of other American bulldogs, Chevy and Bubbaas well as information. She also provides some good infomation on Hip dysplasia and joint problems which she says can be helped greatly by "feeding a natural diet and supplementing with large doses of Ester-C".

Alaskan Malamute Dog Breed

Today I added a good page dedicated to Alaskan Malamute dog breed.

An ancient breed which is well known in history for assisting Admiral Richard Byrd to the South Pole. They are not a common breed, mainly due to be a working dog breed for jobs you don't often see performed on a daily basis.

Check out this picture of an Alaskan Malamute sent in by Stuart www.sledog.com.

Affenpinscher and Afghan Hound Dog Breeds

Added 2 new breed pages today, first up was a toy terrier, the Affenpinscher. A small but typically lively terrier breed which in the UK only comes in the colour black.

Next was the very elegant Afghan Hound. A beautiful unique looking dog. I remember years ago some neighbours who lived in the house opposite us has 2 of them. Actually it is one of those breeds you do see more often in pairs than singly owned.

At time of writing I still require some pictures of these breeds.

Another Dog Borstal

Watched another recorded episode of Dog Borstal tonight. It certainly featured 3 very misbehaving dogs, a deaf English Bull Terrier, a very overweight Cocker Spaniel and boisterous Rottweiler.

As per usual I wasn't overly impressed with the results. Mic certainly made clear to the owner of the fat Cocker Spaniel, (I think it was 23kg, so 10 Kg overwight), that the dog was extremely overweight. The owner had even bought along a tub of Candy floss for the dog. Although I'm sure in one of the videos filmed of her before going to Dog Borstal, she was shouting that the dog shouldnt be eating the Candy Floss it was eating as it was bad for it. Strange. She was one dog owner who certainly deserved a few training sessions with Mic.

Lynne Davies had a very tough case with the deaf English Bull Terrier, a stubborn breed of dog at the best of times, let alone when they can't hear you.

Robert Alleyne was in charge of the Rottweiler, which showed some signs of improvement in its aggression towards other dogs.
